Fictional example · free download

An IFRS S2 evidence pack, with one figure you can trace.

Follow a fictional gas-use figure from a source record through the calculation, review history and evidence index. Open the files and verify their checksums without an account.

This is a hand-built teaching example, not a customer report or an export generated by the production application. Its files illustrate the evidence workflow. The real auditor pack uses PDFs, CSV activity history, evidence, an index and a manifest. Request a walkthrough to verify that export with us.

Start with the calculation.

120,400 kWh × 0.18908 kgCO2e/kWh ÷ 1,000 = 22.765232 tCO2e, shown as 22.77 tCO2e. The factor is illustrative, not a recommended reporting factor. The calculation is performed outside Auditably; the software records the prepared figure and its supporting evidence.

What is inside?

FileWhat to inspect
README.txtScope, fictional status and how to verify hashes.
disclosure-example.htmlThe number, units, method and source.
data-points.csvInputs, factor and unrounded result.
activity-log.csvIllustrative preparation, review, correction and approval.
index.csvA path from the disclosure to its supporting file.
evidence/gas-use-example.txtThe fictional source record.
manifest.txtSHA-256 digests for the other files in this ZIP.

Three checks to make.

  1. Recalculate the value and check the units and rounding.
  2. Follow index.csv to the source file and read the change history.
  3. Compare a file's SHA-256 hash with manifest.txt. Changing the file changes its hash.

On Windows, run Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 -LiteralPath '.\evidence\gas-use-example.txt' in the extracted folder. Compare the result with the matching manifest line. A hash comparison proves consistency with that manifest, not that the original evidence is true or that the manifest itself is authentic.

Is this the job you need software to do?

Auditably is for evidence and review around figures you have already prepared. It does not calculate emissions, model Scope 3, consolidate entities, supply legal advice or perform independent assurance. Read the coverage matrix and published prices.

A useful walkthrough checks one prepared figure, one source attachment, a role restriction and an export. Use fictional data first. Practitioner has one seat; Pro supports up to five named users. Independent two-person approval is not enforced.
